One of the biggest misconceptions in this world is the belief that a man will enter the World of Spirits different than the man he is in mortality. Heber Hale's vision shows that the opposite is true:
"The wicked and unrepentant have still, like the rest, their free agency, and applying themselves to no useful or wholesome undertaking, seek pleasure about their old haunts and exalt in the sin and wickedness of degenerated humanity. To this extent they are still the tools of Satan. It is these idle, mischievous and deceptive spirits who appear as miserable counterfeits at spiritualist seances, table dancing and ouija board operation.
The noble and great ones do not respond to the call of the mediums and to every curious group of meddlesome inquirers. They would not do it in the world of mortality, certainly they would not do it in their increased state of knowledge in the world of immortality. These wicked and unrepentant spirits are [tools] of Satan and his host, operating through willing mediums in the flesh. These three forces constitute an unholy trinity upon the earth and are responsible for all the sin, wickedness, distress and misery among men and nations." (Source)
Jesus referred to these as "unclean spirits". I have seen such individuals in vision and whereas the righteous had on brilliant white garments in the world of spirits, these had garments that were spotted and filthy (brown-black spots depending on the severity of their sins).
The common practice among some to try and send these spirits "into the light" is an exercise in futility because they choose darkness over light. They glory in it, and bringing destruction to the souls of men. I saw that these unclean spirits, like the demons that follow Lucifer, desire to possess mortal tabernacles. This is their primary motivation for wearing down the souls of men through temptation.
I also saw that hell, or the suffering of the wicked, was an individual experience. The physical location for these individuals was dark and misted. It was also cold. The actual fires of hell burn within the individual as they contemplate the nature of their sins in mortality and their consequences. They are literally bound by their own condemnation and apprehension of the coming Judgments of God.
Satan and his followers are those that lived with God before this mortal experience, but, because of the demands of mortality, and their evil nature, they rebelled against God and were cast down to this earth. They are the Spirits of men that were denied this mortal experience. Their role in the World of Spirits is to deceive, tempt and torment. They, like the unclean spirits, desire to take possession of our mortal tabernacles.
The Spirits of men in that world have organized themselves into nations, regions and cities just like we have in this world. They have taken with them the prejudices and beliefs they exercised in mortality. There are Catholics, Muslims, Mormons, Protestants, Buddhists and every other religion. The major difference is that the righteous can no longer be afflicted by the wicked, nor do they live among them.
The work of the righteous in that world is the same as it was in this world, to elevate the Spirits of men by teaching them true principals. The difference being, the righteous live in a beautiful paradise, and can go wherever they wish without being detained by wicked or evil spirits.
The other important work in that world was the re-establishment of the human family as a family unit. Righteous husbands and wives live with their righteous children in paradisiacal bliss . The family unit forms the basis for all happiness in that world. The great work is to reestablish the entire human race as one big family. Again I quote from Heber:
"One other I will mention. I met brother John Adamson, his wife, his son James and their daughter Isabelle, all of whom were killed by the hand of a foul assassin in their home, at Carey, Idaho, in the evening of October 29, 1915. They seemed to define that I was on my way back to mortality and immediately said, (Brother Adamson was speaking) “Tell the children that we are very happy and very busy and they should not mourn our departure, nor worry their minds over the manner by which we were taken. There is purpose in it, and we have a work to do here which required our collective efforts, and which we could not do individually.” I was at once made to know that the work referred to was that of genealogy on which they are working in England and Scotland.
One of the grandest and most sacred things of heaven is the family relationship. The establishment of the complete chain without any broken links brings a fullness of joy. Links wholly bad will be dropped out and either new links put in or the two adjoining links welded together."
This is why Satan and his minions are working so hard to destroy the family unit in this life through pornography, adultery, gambling, abuse and other vices. They seek to divide and conquer. If the human family functioned as intended by the Creator, the unity of the race would be too strong for Satan to influence.
