Roy Cohn built a reputation as a Communist hunter when he was a prosecutor with the U.S. Attorney's office in New York:
As Saypol's assistant at the U.S. Attorney's office in Manhattan, Cohn helped to secure convictions in a number of well-publicized trials of accused Soviet operatives. One of the first involved the prosecution of William Remington, a former Commerce Department employee who had been accused of espionage by KGB defector Elizabeth Bentley. Although an indictment for espionage could not been secured, Remington had denied his longtime membership in the Communist Party USA on two separate occasions and was convicted of perjury in two separate trials. Cohn also prosecuted 11 members of the American Communist Party Politburo for preaching the violent overthrow of the United States Government (see Smith Act). In addition, he was deeply involved in the Alger Hiss case. (source)
He grew in national stature as a result of the prosecution of Julius and Ethel Rosenberg over the transfer of Nuclear weapons technology to the Soviets:
"Cohn was most famous for his role in the 1951 espionage trial of Julius and Ethel Rosenberg. Cohn's direct examination of Ethel's brother David Greenglass, who had passed them classified documents stolen by Klaus Fuchs from the Manhattan Project. Greenglass' testimony was the main reason for the Rosenbergs' conviction and later execution.
Cohn always took great pride in the Rosenberg verdict, and claimed to have played an even greater part than his public role: he said in his autobiography that his own influence had led to both Saypol and Judge Irving Kaufman being appointed to the case. He further alleged that Judge Kaufman imposed the death penalty based on his personal recommendation. (Ibid)
As a result of his involvement in that case he was personally recommended by FBI Director, J Edgar Hoover, to work with Joe McCarthy in his pursuit and prosecution of Communists that had allegedly infiltrated the State Department and elsewhere.
The Rosenberg trial brought the 24-year-old Cohn to the attention of Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) director J. Edgar Hoover, who recommended him to McCarthy. McCarthy hired Cohn as his chief counsel, choosing him over Robert Kennedy, reportedly in part to avoid accusations of an anti-Semitic motivation for the investigations. Cohn assisted McCarthy's work for the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, becoming known for his aggressive questioning of suspected Communists. Cohn tended to be disinclined to hold the hearings in open forums. This mixed well with McCarthy's preference for holding "executive sessions" and "off-the-record" sessions away from the Capitol in order to minimize public scrutiny and to question witnesses with relative impunity. Cohn was given free rein in pursuit of many investigations, with McCarthy joining in only for the more publicized sessions. (Ibid)
Mr. Cohn, however, has his own skeletons. He was a closet homosexual and reportedly involved in running a CIA directed child prostitution ring to blackmail high level politicians:
"In an interview with former NYPD detective James Rothstein, this author discovered that such operations do exist and go far back into America's secret history. Rothstein is no conspiracy theorist. He is a legend in American law enforcement and speaks from experience. Furthermore, he gave me two notable examples from his time as a detective. Rothstein had an opportunity to have a sit-down with infamous McCarthy committee counsel Roy Cohn. During this sit-down, Cohn admitted to Rothstein that he was part of a rather elaborate sexual blackmail operation that compromised politicians with child prostitutes. Cohn told Rothstein that this operation was being carried out as part of the anticommunist crusade of the time." (source)
Reportedly, sexual blackmail was used to force known Communists to confess to their crimes.
"Rothstein made it clear that Cohn was a genuine anticommunist. Anticommunist sentiments aside, evidence suggests that the sex ring operation started by Cohn was used for more than fighting the threat of domestic communists. Fugitive ex-CIA officer Frank Terpil has claimed that sexual blackmailing operations directed by the CIA were intensive in Washington during the Watergate era (DeCamp 179). Terpil also asserts that his former partner, Ed Wilson, was coordinating one of these sexual blackmail operations (179). "
The CIA also used child prostitution rings to compromise and control members of Congress:
"Historically, one of Wilson's Agency jobs was to subvert members of both houses [of Congress] by any means necessary…. Certain people could be easily coerced by living out their sexual fantasies in the flesh…. A remembrance of these occasions [was] permanently recorded via selected cameras…. The technicians in charge of filming… were TSD [Technical Services Division of the CIA]. The unwitting porno stars advanced in their political careers, some of [whom] may still be in office." (Qtd. in DeCamp 179)"
Which could go a long way towards explaining why Congress has permitted the CIA to run its shadow government, clandestine operations and possibly assassinate a sitting American President and his Attorney General brother. It could also explain why 911 was never seriously investigated beyond the commission cover-up. In fact, it could have also provided the reason why G. Gordon Liddy wanted what was inside the Watergate Hotel so badly:
"Rothstein also had an opportunity to speak to infamous Watergate burglar Frank Sturgis. During this conversation, Sturgis revealed one of the reasons for breaking into the Watergate. According to Sturgis, there was a "Pedophile Book" hidden away at the Democratic National Committee headquarters (no pagination). The book was supposed to have a list of pedophiles on the American political scene (no pagination). One can only imagine the power G. Gordon Liddy would have held over the government if he had such a book in his possession." (source)
Not so long ago, the reason why homosexuals were not granted security clearances or permitted in the military is because the posed an abnormally high security risk. In other words, they could be easily blackmailed by foreign governments interested in stealing American military technology, missile site codes and locations and base operations information.
"Child sex was available, and prominent names were associated with the sex ring, including a future vice president and a very sanctimonious member of the Senate Judiciary Committee." (source)
We can only wonder who the vice president was. As for the sanctimonious (holier than thou) member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, I will leave that for you to decide. Sexual blackmail would possibly go a long way towards getting a militant gay lesbian appointed to the Supreme Court with lying accolades that would be better reserved for a far more qualified candidate.
