We now return to the Federalist Papers, written by Alexander Hamilton (pictured), John Jay, and James Madison. The purpose of which, was to explain the need for the newly written and unratified Constitution. One of the main points of contention over ratification, was the choice between a strong Federal government, or a loose Confederation with a weak central government.
"A man must be far gone in Utopian speculations who can seriously doubt that, if these States should either be wholly disunited, or only united in partial confederacies, the subdivisions into which they might be thrown would have frequent and violent contests with each other. To presume a want of motives for such contests as an argument against their existence, would be to forget that men are ambitious, vindictive, and rapacious. To look for a continuation of harmony between a number of independent, unconnected sovereignties in the same neighborhood, would be to disregard the uniform course of human events, and to set at defiance the accumulated experience of ages." (Source)
Here, Hamilton explains why the Articles of Confederation, the form of government then in place, would only lead to further divisions through various alliances and combinations entered into by conspiring men. The Founders believed that if the States remained a Confederacy, intrigue and treachery would only lead to further divisions. History has shown us (The Civil War) that one important issue would be enough to not only create division, but drive the separate parties into a bloody civil war.
Hamilton also points out the various reasons for future divisions among the states:
"The causes of hostility among nations are innumerable. There are some which have a general and almost constant operation upon the collective bodies of society. Of this description are the love of power or the desire of pre-eminence and dominion--the jealousy of power, or the desire of equality and safety. There are others which have a more circumscribed, though an equally operative influence within their spheres. Such are the rivalships and competitions of commerce between commercial nations. And there are others, not less numerous than either of the former, which take their origin entirely in private passions; in the attachments, enmities, interests, hopes, and fears of leading individuals in the communities of which they are members. Men of this class, whether the favorites of a king or of a people, have in too many instances abused the confidence they possessed; and assuming the pretext of some public motive, have not scrupled to sacrifice the national tranquillity to personal advantage or personal gratification. (Ibid)
Hamilton also explained that commercial competition between two states is enough to trigger a war between them, as was the case between the Dutch and the English. Two states, with the same product, competing with the same customers, is a virtual powder keg. Greed has taken mankind to war numerous times throughout its history. After studying this history,I am convinced that there are no virtuous wars of aggression.
Take for example, the war in Afghanistan. The public was told that we were after Osama Bin Laden. Yet, when we had him supposedly cornered in the caves of Tora Bora, we let him escape. It turns out, we were never really interested in capturing Bin Laden at all. What our leaders were really after, was controlling the massive poppy fields that provide 92% of the world's heroin. Now that the "gig is up", we are being told about the "vast mineral resources" found in the mountains of Afghanistan.
Utah, Colorado, and the Rocky Mountains in general have "vast, untapped mineral wealth" as well. If our objective was to find such wealth, our troops would be home and we would be looking for it in our own mountains, instead of those that are over 1,000 miles away in hostile territory.
But I digress. The greatest historical example of dysfunctional confederacies would have to be the Greek city states. as Hamilton explains:
"The celebrated Pericles, in compliance with the resentment of a prostitute, at the expense of much of the blood and treasure of his countrymen, attacked, vanquished, and destroyed the city of the SAMNIANS. The same man, stimulated by private pique against the MEGARENSIANS, another nation of Greece, or to avoid a prosecution with which he was threatened as an accomplice of a supposed theft of the statuary Phidias, or to get rid of the accusations prepared to be brought against him for dissipating the funds of the state in the purchase of popularity, or from a combination of all these causes, was the primitive author of that famous and fatal war, distinguished in the Grecian annals by the name of the PELOPONNESIAN war; which, after various vicissitudes, intermissions, and renewals, terminated in the ruin of the Athenian commonwealth.
This brings me to the United States civil war and Abraham Lincoln. Abraham Lincoln shared the same concerns as Hamilton over the dissolution of the Union. This is the primary reason why he would not permit the Southern States to Secede from the Union without a fight. Lincoln viewed those that would divide the Union as traitors and men with their own selfish, personal ambitions. He also viewed the original ratification of the Constitution by these same States as a Legal and Binding contract that could never be broken.
As the civil war demonstrated, confederacies will weaken the participants to the point where they are forced to rely on foreign alliances for their own security. I am convinced that the Southern States alliance with England would have led to an invasion of the Northern States and the return to colonial status for both the North and South.
The North was no better off. Threatened with invasion from English and Confederate troops, Lincoln was forced to accept an alliance with the Russian Czar, who sent over his naval fleet to check the English.
Now we are hearing reports that Russia, China, Japan, Mexico and the EU want to divide the United States among themselves after the coming economic collapse and social unrest. I believe that Mexico is already being given its share, through our Illuminati-backed politicians in Washington D.C., who stand behind lax border enforcement, illegal immigration and the outright ceding of American land in Arizona, to Mexico.
Can Japan, Russia, China and others enforced claims be far behind? Perhaps, under the auspices of the UN flag? Will the future United States be partitioned like Berlin and Germany after World War II?
Where are the Patriots in this day, willing to preserve the Union? Those willing to resist the partition of our once great nation by all means at their disposal? Those that are willing to "Pledge their Lives, their Fortunes and their Sacred Honor" to preserve our Constitution and Bill of Rights? Where are the honest men of our day? Those that will not sell their birthright for a "mess of pottage"?
Can You Hear Me American Patriots? The time is fast approaching when you will need to beat your pruning hooks into swords and resist foreign invasion and domestic tyranny by the force of your arms. Are you ready?
Can You hear me America's soldiers? Do you still stand by your oath to defend the Constitution of the United States?
Can you hear me America's wives and mothers? Are you willing to set aside your petty desires, so that your sons and husbands can preserve the cause of Liberty?
"Oh say Does that Star Spangled Banner Yet Wave? O'er the Land of the Free? And the Home of the Brave?"
